A Hillbilly Father's Day!

Father's Day is a big time holiday in our family, it always has been- and for good reason! James Arthur Fugett is my Dad, our Dad I should say, and he's a rad dude. He's taught us cool stuff- how to do lots of physical sports, how to enjoy, and survive in, the great outdoors, how to make fantastic breakfast feasts(even for dinner), morality, integrity, simplicity, curiosity, and the secret ingredient to killer french toast. Very hopefully, Cutter, Telle and I carry along many of his unique and life enhancing qualities.

This past weekend, the 3 of us offspring, dog Chica and the honored Papacini (as C and T call him), loaded up and headed to the cabin for the weekend. It was this weekend that I realized another thing Dad passed down to us, perhaps its genetic, perhaps behavioral, but we all have it in us.... a lil bit a hillbilly!

The first inkling of this hypothesis came as we stopped at the gushing waterfalls just up the canyon. This year has had record snow pack so the river is raging as it melts in the summer sun.

After the waterfall we cruised further up the canyon to check out the scene and see what we could see. When Cutter and Telle started shooting BB guns out the window, the hillbilly notion was confirmed. Keep in mind, we are driving a Prius Hybrid.... we are eco-aware hb's!

  1. I love this post... one thing to add to it. As night fell, Jimbo said he was going to set up his bed for the night outside. I looked over and he tossed a sleeping bag on the ground and that was it. "set up" I said to myself? Meanwhile, I had spent 30 minutes setting up my cot, making a fire by my bed, setting bear boundaries etc...
