But first, an interlude. An elevator speech on Astrology 101. Most of us are familiar with our Sun Sign, which is what the newspapers and magazines give us. Here's the thing though, the sun is just one star in our galaxy. It is also helpful to know what signs the other planets are in as well. The core belief of astrology is that at the exact moment you took your first breath, the planets were aligned in the sky in a certain way, which astrologers say, determines your personality traits, strengths and things to learn throughout life. I think of it like a weather forecast, sharing with us what areas of life will be active at certain times. Some times our livesare very focused on and have much growth regarding our careers, while at other times, we have a blast of love and relationship happenings, this could be due to planets entering these areas of our chart. So, what is a chart? It's a snapshot of the stars location at the time of your birth. Are you curious what your chart looks like? 1. Your date of birth with year
2. Your time of birth, as close to the exact moment as possible (this is most important that it be as close to the actual time as possible.)
3. Your location of birth (town and state)- astrology uses the latitude and longitude- very scientific, yes?
So, now that you have your very own map of the heavens, you can investigate where in your life you can expect happenings this week as we gear up for 2 Astrology events, a Solar Eclipse and Mercury Retrograde.
Solar Eclipse- Solar eclipses are big news in the astrology world, they bring a blast of new beginning into our lives, in the area that it falls. On November 25th, a S.E. will occur at 3 degrees Sagittarius (that is where the Sun is currently in the sky.) On your chart, locate where 3 degrees Sagittarius lies. Depending on what number 'house' it is, do a little google search to learn about the new beginning that is on the rise for you. For example, Sagittarius 3 degrees falls in my tenth house of career so I can type "Solar Eclipse in the 10th house" into google and find articles that will help me prepare for this exciting time.
Mercury Retrograde- every 3 months or so, Mercury- the planet that rules communication, technology and movement takes a break. It appears to stop moving in the sky and move backwards. This time period is looked at as a time of snaffu's, delays and annoyances by many. It can and generally does generate some of these but, this is why it is helpful to pay attention to the astrology weather forecast. That way, like rain being fore casted, we can bring our umbrellas to help make the annoyance more manageable, or plan activities that don't matter about the weather. While M.R. can be annoying, it's best to honor and work with what is the point. In my opinion, M.R. is a helpful time that can cause us to go back to something that has occurred in the past 3 months that could be working better. For example, if your company switched email hosts in the past 3 months, there is a good chance that issues will pop up that will encourage you to make tweeks to make the system better. So, the major point of me telling you about this event is, as we are coming up on the Holiday shopping season---my advice to you is to refrain as much as possible from buying gifts involving electronics, techonology, cars and 'machines' in general. This includes internet shopping since a computer is a machine. If you must though, be sure to keep the receipt because there is a good chance it will have to be returned or exchanged. The MR period coming up will last from Nov. 24- Dec. 13, so if you can, enjoy the season of baking, listening to Christmas music and decorating, and save your shopping for before and after these dates.
