Last night I chatted awhile with a lady we know at the Santa Fe art walk. She is a jewelry artist whose husband is a nature photographer and together they own a photo lab. Now that you know who they are, you can imagine them traveling to all of the big cities in western Europe last month; Rome, Paris, and London. And they threw in Amsterdam. She described her love for the canals and the architecture oh, and the bike riding everywhere. Which when I was like,
whoa whoa whoa whoa. bike riding, everywhere? And she said they stayed at a bed and breakfast that was a bike rental shop too. SO cool.
AND, she said that in the town, everyone makes their tires somewhat flat- better to ride over the cobblestones with. (sigh.) Amsterdam is obviously where I belong. And it's in this flurry of feeling for a place that makes me want to go there, and be there. To wake up and eat danishes (the real ones) and see what Dutch coffee is like. (every country does their coffee differently.)
