This season is full of gaetities, cookies, lights and parties that sometimes end in hangovers to the tenth power. Friday night started in such an unassuming way.
At our 4 p.m. Friday business meeting, my Denver sister of sorts, AJ (the one who went to Spain alone in the post
here,) got wind that AMC was going bowling and she wanted in. Luckily, her friend Kristin was meeting us (sigh of ultimate relief) I wasn't alone amongst 'the gamers.' AJ and AMC are two gamers. If they play something, they play to get up on a podium and hear their anthem play, they play for the gold. Me, unless it's Pictionary, Scattergories, Capture the Flag or Flip Cup am along for the ride.
WheatRidge Lanes is a family owned, cute little joint with ten lanes or so. They play country music on the lounge side and got some booty tunes going on our side for the Friday night. It turns out that they also have amazing green chili fries and jalapeno poppers, which go perfectly with Blue Moon with orange slices.
2 miracles happened in that bowling alley.
1. We all broke 100.
2. AMC hung out with us three girls for hours (and had fun.)

That music must have seeped into our bones because we girls began to crave some Rock Bar. Rock Bar is the best dance club I have ever been to. You know you have arrived when you see the sign from the street in huge flourescent letters, MOTEL. Rock Bar is in the basement of an old motel. There is foil wallpaper and chandeliers from the 70's. The old carpet gets soaked from the spilled drinks and the carpet lovingly sticks to your shoes. It's amazing. This is no 'hip' club in the sense of fancy people and 'bottle service.' We are talking $2 cans of PBR. Come as you are baby. They play music I used to roller skate to in my basement in 3rd grade. We are talking C&C Music Factory, Boys to Men and all of those 90's loves of mine and yours (?) They should make a Rock Bar radio station as far as I'm concerned.

if I was a DJ, I'd be these guys. |

AJ dancing. so in the moment. |
Us girls danced (AMC bailed) and dancing is good for the soul. Personally, I need a good dance at least twice a year, which is good because I can really only handle a hangover twice a year anymore, at the most. Thank my lucky stars, Pretty Woman was on TNT yesterday. If I was banished to an island and could only bring 3 movies, Pretty Woman would be one. I do believe that Mr. Lewis, Richard Gere's character is the first man I ever loved. And Vivienne's wardrobe is to die for. I am seriously considering making 2012 a Pretty Woman style year. I'd wear it all, shoulder pads and all.
