The best day of the week. Sunday, sweet Sunday. No wonder the ice cream Sundae is named as it is- both are just delightful and deserve to be named after one another! The AMC and I had a list of Sunday activities we entertained the thought of, apparently though, they were too ambitious for such a luxurious lazy summer Sunday... and we have settled into a lovely home breakfast, a morning nap (going back to sleep at 9:30 a.m. is heavenly, who knew?????) and then to our favorite of favorite jaunts- Wash Perk Cafe. We love this cafe. So much so, that when we have out of town guests, if we don't have time to go inside, we at least drive them by this place. A drive by will suffice in one's life but, really, we all need to experience "the Perk."
Usually, for a cafe afternoon, I practically pack a rolling suitcase with my essentials. Laptop, notebook, current book, magazine, pens, sweater, stationary. I get down to business. At the Perk however, as AMC points out.... I sit for at least 30 minutes when we first arrive. Just taking it all in, looking around at all of the little details they have done here that make it an 'experience.' It dawned on me that I could come to the Perk empty handed, and be completely entertained. It is like being at home. So comfy. As a cafe connieseur, this place is my favorite on the planet- and I really mean it. They have mastered the art of cafe life. Actually, I feel that at any moment, the cast of FRIENDS could come skipping in the door and plop on the couch next to me.

The excitement starts right away, in line to order your Cup of Joe or tea. (side note-- if you like iced coffee, try an iced Americano-it's a whole new level of iced pleasure) Anyway, when you come to the Perk you get a fortune reading. They have a jar by the register of circular lovenotes that have little messages that sprinkle you with a bit of fairy dust.

After receiving your drink of choice and head over to the sugar and cream zone... one may notice that you have a choice on your stirring utensil- you can choose a..... Spoon! (they put exclamation points on the labels- Forks! Spoons! Knives!) Oh, the enthusiasm they inspire! Or, for those into something exotic, you can stir your beverage with a linguini noodle! Yes, pasta! So, environmental!

Bikes and Dogs= Denver. Denverites love to zoom on bikes, cruisers for the easy riders, road bikes (with really skinny tires) for the serious zoomers who wear butt-padded bike shorts because they go soooo far. Denverites also believe in their hearts that Dogs are citizens, too. The Perk is a place for both, bikers and pooches. It takes care of its canines, with a basket of dog biscuits at canine level- filled to the brim! Oh, the life!
Even in the bathroom, you are filled with bit of Joie De Vivre.... the joy of life, the joy of the Perk. Cheers Perk, see you soon! Omigosh! NewsFlash!!! Just as I prepared to end this post, something happened at the table next to us..... a very possible love connection. A single lady at the "community table" was just asked by a single gentleman, if he could sit across from her. There are open tables elsewhere. Love this place!
