Make this: fabric flowers

Last night was Crafts n' Drafts night at Elizabeth's. She welcomed us into her house (she's a homeowner!) from the stoop where she stood in her trendy apron. Inside, fabric sat in tempting piles on the coffee table and the kitchen was full of snacks. When all of the girls arrived and had poured their wine, we all piled onto the sofa to hear the announcement.... what were we to make?

Fabric Flowers!

There are a few ways to make these and all of them are easier than I expected (craft fool proof- hallelujuah) and you barely need a thing. As a matter of fact, I brought one of my favorite work shirts that I recently ripped, leaving it unwearable. All that is needed is:

-fabric (purchased or repurposed)
-hot glue gun

1. cut fabric into strips (2" wide by 12" long or so) The more fabric here the larger the flower will turn out.

2. begin winding the fabric around itself, twisting it tightly as you go.

3. hot glue the pieces as you wind

4. attach your fabric flower to anything:
an old headband, bobby pins, use for gift wrapping....

Elizabeth claims that she is not crafty, but only thinks crafty thoughts. (the difference?) Check out her pinterest board (click here) she made for the tutorial portion of the evening, it provides lots of inspiration, and many of them have a how-to if you click on the photo.

Here is how my fabric flower came out- brings a simple hair clip to a whole new level.
